Rugeley Model Boat Club
Rugeley Model Boat Club (RMBC) moved to Manor Park in March 2017 following the demise of Rugeley Power Station. We are a small friendly club that sail radio-controlled small yachts and scale model boats for pleasure, on this beautiful lake. We meet every Monday, except Christmas week, from 12.30 until about 15.00.
The dozen or so members on the clubhouse patio mostly sail the inexpensive DF95 class radio-controlled yachts. The focus changes to the earlier Victoria and the smaller DF65 class yachts according to the annual programme. Depending on the wind there is usually time for four informal races twice around the six yellow buoys.
The scale model boat owners gather on the grass in the corner of the lake sheltered from the wind, in front of the containers, towards the entrance gate. Help is given with launching and retrieval of model tugs, trawlers, motor torpedo boats and all the battery powered variations.
The RMBC meet nearly every Monday around 12.30 to be on the water by 13.00. The mostly retired club members keep everything relaxed with no shouting or swearing and provide lots of free help with setting up. Please do bring sandwiches for lunch and a flask.
