Thankyou to The Postcode Lottery!

Manor Park Sailing Club were awarded £2,000 from the PostCode Lottery at end of June 2021for the replacement of the leaking s/h safety boat used by the Manor Park Radio Sailing Club and the Rugeley Model Boat Club. The brand new RED Whaly 310 rigid safety boat was collected and put into use in time for the August National MYA 2 day event, with 31 entries (from all over the UK) plus our own members. Crewed by two of our members the new boat got high praise; working all weekend, rescuing yachts, moving buoys to set new courses to suit the winds.

Since arrival, it is being used on at least 3 days every week by our two Radio Sailing Clubs, moving buoys to match winds, rescuing model yachts, or rescuing failed scale models - Benefiting on average 25 members each month!

What is significant is it's stability - ALL our members now have confidence in using the new boat. It has lifted our Radio Sailing and we have three new members already. It is so useful that it now permanently moored on the low level jetty for use by all members, and for dinghy sailors in emergencies when there is no formal rescue boat.

The other week, Sandra, our longest serving Radio Sailor, forgot to turn on her yacht receiver! Her yacht blew out of control into the distance. As both wearing buoyancy aids, Peter said "Get into the boat, I'll row". When her yacht was recovered, back on dry land she said "Never been in a boat in my life!" That's how stable our new boat is!
