Powerboat Courses
RYA Powerboat Level 1 & Level 2
Want to learn how to safely handle a powerboat? Our RYA Powerboat courses are a great way to develop practical boat-handling skills, build confidence on the water and gain an internationally recognised RYA qualification.
At Manor Park Sailing Club, our Powerboat training takes place over a weekend, with a mixture of practical, hands-on training on the water and essential theory.
Level 1 Start Powerboating
Level 1 introduces you to the fundamentals of powerboating and is designed for those with little or no previous experience. You'll learn the basics of boat handling, safety, launching and recovery, and preparing the boat and crew.
Level 2 Powerboat Handling
Level 2 develops your practical skills and gives you the knowledge and confidence to handle a powerboat independently in appropriate conditions. Training includes manoeuvring, coming alongside, mooring, anchoring, launching and recovery, man-overboard recovery, planing and understanding the rules of the water.
You can go straight onto Level 2 there is no need to complete Level 1 separately. The Level 2 course covers the Level 1 skills and knowledge as part of the training, making it suitable for complete beginners as well as those with previous experience.
